Jane Davies

I am a textile artist living and working in the Midlands. From an early age I developed a love of fabric and thread, buttons and beads. Studying for City and Guilds Embroidery allowed me to develop many of the themes I concentrate on today. In particular, the love of embroidered textiles from many countries around the world, had led me to travel and steadily amass a collection of exotic and beautiful pieces. These textiles from China, Thailand and India and beyond, display many fantastic hand stitches, and this is the area I find myself drawn to again and again. The use of simple stitches in an innovative and exciting manner is something I have been working on for a number of years. I lecture and give workshops to organisations such as the Embroiderers' Guild, Quilters' Guild and other groups of both adults and children.
