Sat 4th July
Art Felt with Marietta
Fabulous fine layers of many colours and textures. You will make fabulous fine layers of many coloured Merino wool combined with jewel coloured organza, and hand-dyed silk fibres. Then the felt will be ready for hand and machine embroidery. I went to Marietta’s studio to see the samples she was working on and they are really creative gorgeous surfaces. Felters and embroiderers will love this workshop. Materials extra. Course Fee £48

Silk paper Explorations with Helen Crawford
Angie exhibits with Helen as part of the Rubicon group of textile artists. Helen’s creativity with silk fibres is legendary. Learn how to collage with silk fibres to create images inspired by nature. Course Fee £48

Play on Bird Words with Angie *new*
Angie has taken inspiration from text and poetry to make her art work for some years, this new workshop looks at quotations and sayings inspired by birds to create collaged and stitched images to frame up. Experiment with printed words, image transfer, embossing and machine embroidery. Part of Poetry Festival Week. Course Fee £135

Vanishing Worlds with Angie
Using natural forms as inspiration try the new sticky front ‘Aquabond’ to lay out your threads and fabrics, machine embroider then dissolve. The result is a delicate filigree to collage with other fabrics and stitch to make a lovely textural surface. Course Fee £48

Mon 20th – Fri 24th July
Summer School – Cultural Cloth
I did this summer school in the first year of Ledbury Artplace, now entering its 5th year of existence I’m reviving this colourful week of dye and print. We will look at dyeing techniques and pattern from India and Africa, starch resist, tie dye and block printing with a difference, finally cooking up an indigo dye vat to get the resonant deepest blue dyed fabrics for you to take home and use in your patchwork or stitched art works. Price includes dyes and printing inks you will need to provide fabrics. Course Fee £240 (limited to 6 places)

Textural Book wraps with Angie
Last years book wrap challenge at Artplace was a great success attracting lots of visitors, come and have a go at making one yourself. Make a new fabric from strips of calico, lace scrim anything you like really to weave the base fabric for the wrap. Embellish with Lots of printing and Machine embroidery. Learn about cord wrapping and making tyvek beads and other closures. You can find an article about these wraps in Quilting Art magazine Oct/Nov 2007 Course Fee £90

Shimmering Landscapes with Angie *new*
Back to black cotton velvet again, I’ve developed this workshop to show you how to use transfoils with bondaweb, Mistyfuse, Fuse FX, Hotspots and Supermend. Taking simple land or seascapes as a theme I will show you how to use these glues to make a twinkling surface for stitch. Course Fee £48

JUST FELT with Marietta Alker
Marietta has been re-thinking her felt and how wonderful a medium it is without embellishment. This workshop will show you how to work with natural coloured wools to make flat felt for a cushion, chair seat cover or similar. Let the tactile quality of the wool speak for itself. Course Fee £48

Tantalising Textile Books with Angie
While delving into a pile of creative book publications I found this project by Jan Bode Smiley. I've added my own style to these little tag books. Techniques and materials include calico, Timtex, stamping, image transfer, and hand and machine embroidery. Great fun for all abilities. Materials available for small fee. Course Fee £48
